Overview

It enhances the differentiation of T-cell progenitors in the thymus, increases the ratio of CD4+ helper T cells, and normalizes the CD4/CD8 ratio in immunocompromised states. Thymogen also modulates cytokine production — it enhances IL-2 and interferon-gamma production by Th1 cells while suppressing excessive Th2 cytokine responses, promoting balanced immune function rather than simple stimulation. At the molecular level, the Glu-Trp dipeptide is thought to interact with transcription factors involved in T-cell gene expression, including those regulating TCR signaling components.
